Dhoni Vs Kohli way of thinking?

'Abundance' Vs 'scarcity' =
Dhoni Vs Kohli?

Weird comparison?
Yes, but it hits home a clear understanding for me.

👉When we assume that the universe has scarce resources,

we feel grumpy, envious, complaining and despise each others' success. We compete, we fight and we fret.

👉But when we assume its all abundant stuff out there for each one to enjoy,

we collaborate, we understand and we trust each other to get the best out of ourselves.

----

👉Dhoni way of thinking, to my mind assumes that good is everywhere and is there for us to avail.

- He trusts new-comers to even deliver on the toughest of time. He trusts & promotes.

- He doesn't fret on the uphill required rate and stays cool during provocation by others, mostly.

- He stays calm even if others drop catches or when everyone is fab. He waits with unusual calm, letting others remain calmer.

👉Kohli way of thinking, IMO is about getting the best out there, always. And if it doesnt happen, it shows which is around scarcity mentality.

- He pushes himself to deliver aggresively and expects others to do that. He pushes.

- He pays people in thier coins, if somebody sledges, he sledges too. Thus, he gets played to circumstances.

- He is expressive to the limit and shows his frustration overtly which puts everyone down too.

What do you think?

💡Irrespective, lesson is that when u believe in universal abundance, u collaborate, lead and do good to others Vs other side of scarcity, frustration, rivalry & anxiety, thats no good to others.

Bangalore & its many labels!

Bangalore?

The 2023 'layoff' city!

The 'outsourced' city!

The 'traffic jam' city!

The news keeps churning labels to this city where I live.

There are memes too -

- The airport here is in a different city.

- You can either drive to the airport or reach delhi via air in the same time.

- Silk Board is like Burmuda Triangle where u get sucked into traffic for hrs.

With a fantastic & scenic 10K run in the morning today, i felt deep gratitude to the city -

👉Its pleasant weather makes every morning a day of running (i remember how summers/winters are unbearable in Delhi).

👉The original label of 'Garden City' due to large lungs like Cubbon Park makes living enjoyable. Most roads have large trees giving you a great driving experience too.

👉The #technology adoption of the city is so powerful that u can venture out on streets without a wallet - every small shop or even vegetable seller has a QR.

👉The amalgamation of cultures is moving towards a melting pot of sorts, u dont feel challenged in terms of language - English/Hindi works mostly.

👉 Most of the new #startups are taking shape here, getting you an opportunity to be amidst deep change that will propel India from $3Tn to $15-18Tn in next 15 years.

🙏#bangalore

Somewhere i read today -

Gratitude is a superpower if you practise it, else you will feel lack of power and always be complaining - without any change in the external environment.

Apply the art of Storytelling. Everywhere.

Classic Fairytales > #Data & Spreadsheets

I was teaching my son the following expression in algebra -
x(y+3)= xy+3x,
however he was only multiplying x with y and leaving 3 separate. I told him multiple times via logic, bodmas etc but he kept repeating the same mistake.

Then my wife told him a story - A guest is ringing a doorbell of house, he is standing out of the house(x). In the house, y and 3 stay together (y+3). When they open the door(brackets), both y and 3 meet the guest x (multiplication) and they spend good fun time together.

The result was astonishingly strong, he didn’t do any further mistake! I realised the power of storytelling even in algebra.

Similarily at work or in life, it’s important to harness the power of #storytelling vs keep sticking to spreadsheets. Now, more and more organisations are switching to #narrative  writing vs power points or just tables as exemplified by Amazon  with the doc writing that crystallises everything from mind to the 6 pager what, why, how, who etc).

And to learn from classical fairy tales, there is always this broad structure at work as well-

- Beginning - Once upon a time | Market was like this…
- Context - There was a king and queen | We did a,b and c
- Problem - But they were sad because of | however the kpis didn’t move
- Solution - Then the hero did this | Then we took actions x,y,z
- Evaluation - And they lived happily ever after | Resulted in kpi movement
- Moral of Story - Learning | Learning’s and way forward

Do you have more such insights out of plain logic vs #stories experiments?

Get Drunk with Happy Harmones!

Got drunk in the morning ever?
I do. Regularly.

With Happy Hormones!

Yes. I am back on running track in between with cult classes. Ran 50km for July; good start after a hiatus. Loving the happy hormones rush through the day to keep me full of life! Once done in morning, you are drunk through the day with energy!

As you know, Hormones are produced by human body after certain activities. Certain hormones are known to help promote positive feelings, including happiness and pleasure. These “happy hormones” include:

Dopamine. Also known as the “feel-good” hormone.

Serotonin. This hormone helps regulate your mood as well as your sleep, appetite, digestion, learning ability, and memory.

Oxytocin. This hormone can also help promote trust, empathy, and bonding in relationships.

Endorphins. Endorphins are your body’s natural pain reliever, which your body produces in response to stress or discomfort.

Try a 20-30 min morning physical activity for 21 days; i bet you will feel a lot more alive and addicted more than any alcohol to keep doing the same thing everyday. It’s been 7 years since I embraced running and it has turned my life upside down - from how I weigh to how energised I am thru the day to an entire identity it has given me!

As world famous Dilbert cartoonist says - We should not get drained by time management or task prioritisation tactics, we need to do energy management as with high levels of energy, we can tore down a big task in less time vs otherwise.

Have you experienced such happy harmones already?

In running circles, it’s said - When u feel bored or tired, u go for a run! Contrary to popular belief of ‘Running long distances will drain you’, it is actually energising and for me it’s like #Meditation.

Try it!

Never Ending Money + Kids

Concept of "Never ending #Money"!

In discussions with kids of today, few interesting insights came across about money. The thing most run after in life -

1. Getting Money is very Easy.
2. And its unending!

How? When i asked kids-

1. We just have to go to ATM, insert card and get money. We can get as many times we want, Papa/Mummy does the same!😂

Another kid showing greater wisdom said...no no -

2. Even, going to ATM is also not needed. Its through UPI in mobile. Just scan the code anywhere and you can buy anything! 😅

And when asked about -
why you need so many pens at one go?
why throw the pen away if it runs out?
Why not use a refill?

The answers was -
3. What is a refill?😭
4. Order from Amazon it will come by tomorrow!

With such definitions, I felt we need to bring in offline money and teach them value of money. One of the perils of using online money is weakening of mathematical skills. You dont need to subtract on how much money, the shopkeeper should return!!

My takeaway with small kids immersion as parent -

1. Get kids do the offline transaction at say self serve food counters where they need to order with real notes & bring back receipt and change.
2. Get them to manage a monthly budget for thier own stuff and do reconciliation at end of month.
3. Use refills and ration the pens per usage.
4. When something runs out, send them to offline shop to purchase the single pen/eraser needed to teach them value of 'physical effort' to get things.

Being part of Tech/ecommerce industry, i know its quite contrary to what we do - bringing convenience with doorstep delivery.

But kids need to understand that the delivery wale bhaiya is replacing your effort to acquire things...and they should do the same to understand life!

Chess - A Teacher for Life

Chess: A teacher for life?

With so much happening around wrt 'India hosting Chess Olympiads' for the first time; its good to see dailies covering the event with greater coverage.

India (the inventor of the game) is actually has become a country of cricket; but offlate few events have started showing positive signs on increasing adoption (16 yr old Praggnanandha beating Magnus Carlsen, Kids picking chess during covid when outdoors were out, a series on chess (Queen's Gambit) bringing back interest in the game).

As a parent (of an interested chess player), I found a few great gems on how Chess is a great teacher on life lessons. Here are a few -

1. Its not about #power all the time- More powerful pieces on the board Vs opponent dont necessarily ensure victory. You might have lost your queen but you can even do mates with 2 knights. Its how you apply yourself basis the curve balls the enemy is throwing. Same goes for life - Not always the 'Obvious one' becomes successful in life.

2. It teaches you to be #humble - You cant brag your way to victory. Its a game of immense focus and concentration. Despite strong positions, overconfidence can lead to one game-changing mistake against an opponent with weak material. Such losses make you humble! In this game, a pawn stays humble; and it gets the fruit of #patience till it survives and reaches the other end to transform into a Queen.

3. Foundational starts - The game teaches you to begin in such a manner that you open up your structure in such a way that you develop your pieces and gain as much ground in front while keeping your core strong (king safe). This foundational play is essential for higher chances of success. Teaching us how its important to build from #basics and not just sprint; but do a thoughtful marathon.

4. Create Opportunities if you dont have one (You cant just wait for opponent to commit mistakes but make moves which can open the doors for you to win). In life, you are the master of your sail; you just dont wait for wind but steer to where you want to go. #Invent and think on your feet to win.

Actionsble Insights into building habits

Some #Insights into habit building from my own experience.

How do i bring in consistency in running for now more than 5 years? Thinking Small.

Yes, contrary to what leadership principles tell, first #think #small when u r developing a habit. Just a km or 2, a walk around the block. Walk or little bit of run, daily. Thats it. Try to stick to a common time. Brain has memory.

Second, make it easier to NOT skip it. Change ur #enviornment! Build  triggers within ur enviornment. I bought runners clothes, shoes, headphones. Put them in the drawing room next to my mobile (with morning alarm) in the drawing room; so that i would have to walk across rooms to shut it. Helped!

Third, i linked my habit of morning tea to run. Wake up, make my morning tea and then after having refreshed, go for a run. It worked. #habit #linking

Fourth, started putting my meagre updates of 1-2-3 km runs on facebook, daily! It brought in a few comments from my network on how slow or lazy i am :) Make it #Public

Fifth, started participating in running competitions that invite u for a 5km, 10km run on the weekend. Helps to see others do it with fun; then why i cant! #Networkeffect

And then u hit that threshold before u enjoy. #Compounding catches up and takes ur curve up!

Never settle; keep finding new means of unsettling yourself.

Never settle; keep finding new means of unsettling yourself.

Your job is to do things that make you uncomfortable. People who are comfortable are short-changing their true potential. Would you agree that someone that has a goal to create a massive life will help and influence more people? The people who settle for average are not living up to their potential. They struggle to get by, barely making a mark on the planet.

Like Steve Jobs suggested, your goal is to make a dent in the Universe.

4 stages of Life - Where r u?

What is #life? A continuous #movement from one #stage to another? Which stage you are in? What are you trying to accomplish? Why are you #running so hard? To get somewhere? Or to run away from somewhere? Whats your life #purpose?

One of my favourite author of 'The subtle art of not giving a f*ck' - Mark Manson puts it interestingly on his blog; that life is composed of 4 stages -

1. #Mimicing - We mimic others to learn from other - parents, teachers to society. Resultant effect is that we discover, we are not good ourselves and keep looking for social approvals. Lasts till early adulthood.

2. #SelfDiscovery - With adulthood, our conquest to discover ourselves begins. And we hit & try, and experience and soak in as much as we can to find a meaning. What we are good at? What is my life's mission? Good or bad learnings. What u should do and  what not & so on. Lasts till late thirties.

3. #Commitment - This is rightly so the golden period. U discovered what u r good at. And realize that time is limited. U focus & build ur life's work there. Lasts till retirement.

4. #Legacy - This is last stage where u realized time is close. And rather than building, u should pass the life's essence to others as legacy.

#Think about it. Hard.

Book Review 4 - Give & Take by Adam Grant

Just finished my 4th book of 2018 - Give and Take by Adam Grant. This book is an interesting view on relationships in life with people and how patterns emerge in 3 types of people - Takers, Matchers and Givers. Takers are always driven by thier own selfish motives, trying to get to the top by powering  themselves over others. Givers are those people who help, mentor others; who take interest in others' worlds to better and overall pull everybody up. Matchers are people who give and take in equal amounts with a propensity to match. The obvious hypothesis is that Givers are the last ones on the success ladder.

The book challenges that hypothesis with real life examples from Startup capital to hollywood; and discusses learnings on how givers excel everywhere. It systematically discusses the benefits of giving and pitfalls to avoid to become a 'successful giver'.

Some key gems from the book -

1. Givers dont network like networkers do at networking events. They have a genuine desire in contributing to others and thus thier networks are stronger. The quality of conversations lead to depth of relationships which they tap at any point of time. And as the interactions are genuine, even dormant ties when reconnected lead to poistive outcomes vs takers who sort of burn bridges. Eg Adam Rifkin, rated as largest networker on linkedin.

2. Givers are so genuinely interested in helping others; when they work in a team they dont have a 'claiming' desire; thus they give collaborate well with others. Takers on the contrary again in a desire to move ahead, do it once and people dont want to work with them again. Thus, the power of collaboration takes them much ahead even in occupations dealing with innovation, creativity or medical surgeries etc. Eg. George Meyers, man behind Simpsons.

3. Givers practice powerless communication at times to connect with audiences vs takers powerful speeches. The audience find them normal human beings with some flaws and somebody who listens more, making them open up well vs a deft speaker delivering speeches like a monologue. The book talks about several examples from sales where givers were top achievers because client felt safe with them. They felt that the salesman has a genuine desire to help rather than powerful fleecers or takers.

4. Despite these huge benefits, where givers fail is that they get 'used' extensively like doormats by takers or they burnout while indulging in selfless service. Its when the author brings about ways to avoid these pitfalls.

He suggests Reciprocatory Rings as a method to deal with takers or matchers. He says takers avoid ditching people when their reputation is on the line or the act is in public. Takers show helping behavior if they are shown doing it. Thus, author suggests to have open help sessions where a person asks for help and volunteers have to raise hands to help. And as a rule everybody has to help at least one.

5. Another pitfall is burnout out of excessive giving on account of selfless service character. Here Givers need to be 'Otherish' which means a behavior where you help but also enjoy and take care of your interest as well. This develops when u get driven by something which is good for ur individual success but also is must do for others. Eg. As a giver, you might not want to achieve ur own target in sales but help others as u dont want that much money. Givers switch off and loose out here. However, if u also think about ur family and thier needs, suddenly u dont feel guilty but motivated to achieve ur target. Thats 'otherish' behaviour.

Its a very good book on behavior and people who deal with people on a daily basis, its a must read.

Marketing Principles at Home

This post is going to throw a lot of insight into our households; the most neglected parts of all our marketers/sales guys who are outside in field or in offices making strategies to wow our consumers. We can rather learn a lot and apply most of consumer behavior/marketing principles at home only! This post is going to be a revelation of sorts..

Consumer is the King  - Be it your wife or your kid; this is a golden principle for them. Thou shall not follow it shall run great risks. Be it a trip to market or watching a particular channel; your wife and kids are like 'the consumer' and shall be treated like kings and be followed all times for better household hours :)

Customer Service is the key to success and peace - For couple who have just turned parents; they will agree to this principle with respect to their new-borns! Your kid, if not given service at 24 by 7; it will give you nightmares even during the days. Whether having food in the wee hours of the night or trying every trick to entertain the chap is what tells all newly become parents - that Supreme Customer Service for their kids is a MUST.

Customer is always right! - I am sure, all married men shall agree that this principle is the golden principle of marriage. Wife is always right. Thou shall not follow it shall suffer!

Are you a Thermometer or Thermostat?

Are you a #Thermostat or a #Thermometer? I was so intrigued about this concept today, that it blew my mind.

A #thermometer matches with the temperature of the envoirnment. It is influenced by outside, if its hot outside, it will be hot (high temperature) and if cold it will be cool.

A #thermostat on the contrary is something that is driven from inside. Whatever may be envoirnment like (hot or cold), it will resist to give in and stick to what temperature it wants to hold on to (from inside).

In #life, whatever may be the #environment be (tough or easy), one should behave like a thermostat and be doing what it believes it should rather than giving in to the outside envoirnment or circumstances.

Be a #thermostat vs a #Thermometer.

2018 Book Review #2 - The Subtle art of not giving a F*ck

Just finished this incredible book on self awareness and personal development. I will not call it a self help guide, its rather a counter-intuitive approach to living a good life. And here is it why - its not a book telling you all the time to be positive even if you are in deep shit. Its more practical and tells you to accept that you are f*cked up and need to change things and how. This book is thus not a sweet read but full of slang words that work magic as if you are talking to yourself.

I stumbled upon this book via reading a blog post by this celebrated blogger, Mark Manson, which really provoked my thinking. And yes, the title enticed me too.

Now, here is on the book- if you have read through Napoleon Hill, Joseph Murphy, Norman Vincent Peale and so on, you will find this book a refreshing breeze of fresh air. Here are quick bits from the book which are nothing but real gems -

1. Not giving a f*ck doesnt mean being indifferent; it means being comfortable with being different- It means to accept the issues of life, not run from them and then see what you can do about them. Do what u can do, and when u can't do much about rest (not in ur control), accept and stop giving f*ck about it.

2. To not give a f*ck about adversity, u must first give a f*ck about sth more important. (When in this limited time, u dont find sth meaningful to chase or solve, ur mind will wander and just give f*ck about the weather, or neighbours or why u were born like this..

3. Whether u realize it or not, u r always choosing sth to give a f*ck about. (Whether u have not chosen to get born in a developing country, to not to be poor or born short, but u r always choosing to react to it in a kiddish manner, to cry or to wail on why this happened to me; u r choosing ur response and hence choosing to give a f*ck abt pointless stuff).

4. I loved this part - Happiness is about solving problems. You solve 1 problem, u feel happy, and then u solve a bigger problem to make u more happy...its an upward spiral of happiness coupled with complex problems. Happiness is thus an activity rather a feeling. Its a constant work in progress. If thats so simple thrn why most of us arent happy? Because we f*ck things up in either Denial or Being a victim. And when u do either of the two u r either running away or not owning problems so that u can solve them.

5. To be happy, we ask 'what i want to enjoy?' rather than 'what pain can i sustain?' The path to happiness is all about process and is full of struggles. But the problem is that we only want the result or the reward and believe that makes us happy, but rather its the action or struggle that makes us happy regardless of the result. Our struggles determine our successes.

6. Believe that u r not special. Period. Thats quite contrary to belief spread by so many books and movies like matrix! Life is full of mundane things and u need to accept this and work in the process. Its like a diet regimen that u need to eat boring veggies. But once u accept that u need to eat veggies to be fit or more healthy; u become more alive. Accept u r not 'the one' and its fine. And once u believe that u r ordinary, u can work on the process and can actually drive better results rather than living always with the false knowledge of being special and getting frustrated with no results.

7. Life and happiness are dependent on what value u choose to measure success or performance out of life. U can choose good or bad values. The key difference is bad values are reliant on external events while good ones are achieved internally.

Self improvement is about choosing better values to give a f*ck about. Because when u choose better values, u solve better problems and better problems get u better life! The 5 keys values as Mark mentions in the book are - 1 Responsibility 2 Uncertainty 3 Failure 4 Rejection 5 Contemplation of own morality.  And he describes his interpretation around them very well in the book.

8. Choice makes a difference. The difference between a problem being painful or powerful is a sense that u chose it and hence u r responsible for it. When we choose ur problems we feel we are empowered to work and solve it, but when we feel its been thrust on you and u dont have a control on it, u feel victimized and miserable. Thus always choose. But real question is about what we r choosing to give a f*ck about? What values? What metrics? Are these good ones?

9. Everything starts with action. Even if u havent made any plans about it, and u can choose to stay put and wait...dont. Just So something. Why? Because action leads to inspiration to futher motivation to further action.

10. This one is my personal favorite out o this book - Life is like a game of poker. in poker, people will get different cards, good or bad. But still people with bad cards will continue to play as they know its not just the set of cards that decide the result, but how one chooses to take risks with those cards.

Similarily, in life we get different situations but the game of life's ultimate result is dependent on how u choose to respond to these situations and keep making best choices to move forward. The people with the best cards or situations arent necessaily the ones who win or succeed eventually.

Its a must read for people dealing with the pursuit of happyness.

Book Review - Rich Dad Poor Dad

This is a book which i heard about reading in my first job at infosys. But like many other nerds or other 'worker' people, i neglected the advice thinking i hate finance. At 37, when i just happened to pick this from a footpath and read it recently, i realized what a waste of 15 years had been.

This is a MUST READ book for any human being who makes a living. It should be rather part of school curriculums so that so many lives can be saved. You must be wondering about the hyperbole, but here is what it is about -
"Poor ppl work for money, and rich ppl make thier money work". Now, you must have been intrigued. Yes, the book unveils a thinking around finance principles needed for a healthy life. It talks about assests and liablities, cash flows, income and expense but in a manner that a layman can understand.

I would just mention a few key points from the book that might make you pick it up if you havent -

1. Poor ppl work for money, and rich ppl make thier money work.
2. Poor ppl look at expensive things and say, i cant afford it. Rich ppl look at same things and say, how can i afford it.
3. Poor ppl look at the biggest thing in thier life - house, as an asset, rich understand that its a liability.
4. Poor ppl work day in day out to increase thier active income of salary while rich work on thier passive incomes ( stocks, bonds, real estate etc).
5. Poor ppl first pay thier bills and taxes and then pay themselves. Rich ppl first pay themselves and push themselves to then pay the bills and taxes.
6. Poor ppl understand that the only way to realise thier dreams is through harder education and then job labour giving higher salary, thus perpetual rat race. Rich ppl know that rats race and hence to not to become a rat means financial freedom, and hence dreams.
7. Savers are loosers, Investors are winners. Savers are risk averse, investors are opportunity makers.
8. Winning at financial game is - Its not how much money u make, its about how much u keep.
9. The rich buy assets. The poor only have expnses. The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
10. The rich focus on thier asset columns while everyone else focus on thier income statements.
11. The biggest asset we all have is our mind. If it is trained well, it can create enormous wealth.
12. Failures inspires winners. Failure defeats losers.
13. Find a reason to be rich greater than reality - the power of spirit.
14. Make daily choices.
15. Choose friends carefully, birds of same feather, flock together.
16. Learn new formulas quickly and keep up with the times.
17. Pay yourself first. Focus on cash flow, people and personal time.
18. Be an indian giver - the power of getting sth for nothing.
19. Use assets to buy luxuries. Eg if u want to buy a car, invest into sth which can get u a car rather than create a liability thru a car loan.
20. Power of giving, spread the knowledge, make others rich and you shall recieve in kind.

Amazing book, read it asap, the earlier the better. And a great word of admiration to Mr Robert Kiyosaki for spreading such vast knowledge to people.

2018 - Finance Goals

As new year arrives every year, we make a lot of resolutions and goals, out of  which there goals to manage our finances.

One would realize in life, that money can only be multiplied through investing, rather than putting endless hours in a job. Most of us, dont focus on multiplying money that we make, we just focus on making the money which is a much smaller amount than our life goals.

As stated in Rich Dad Poor Dad book, rich make thier money work while poor work for money.

Thus think about how to make your hard earned money work this year.

Here is an article on few thumb rules to fix the basics of your finances. Begin.

New Year #Resolutions & 'how' to stick to them in #2018!

New Year #Resolutions & 'how' to stick to them in #2018!

We all have this 'resolution syndrome' to pick up all should do(s) at least this year...every new year. But it doesnt happen.

Here is how you can do it in 2018 -

First, the resolution has to be something with a big '#why', something which is more than just a 'should do'. What is it that you want to offer the world? Who do you want to be, what do you want more of in your life? And then asking: “How might I get there? What would create that as a consequence?”

Second, outsourcing #willpower really works. Share your resolution with somebody to have a collective force to force you to stick to it. A friend, partner, etc can really pull you out of bed on your weakest days.

Third, #Bribe yourself. As with any habit making, add a reward after the act or reaching a milestone. A reward that obviously doesnt impact the resolution.  Eg, a shopping spree after a monthly goal.

Fourth, making your #goal public gets you #socialsupport. When you share something in public, say facebook; people's likes/comments add to the fuel.

Go ahead! And make it real this 2018!! It has given me the power to stick to mine in terms of #running as a #habit.

Summarized from this nice article -

Movie Review - Dangal

There are movies which are made for pure entertainment, to be watched at one time to let go of your realities of life. And then there are movies which are made to inspire and motivate you to face those harsh realities of life. Dangal belongs to latter.

I am no particular khan fan. But Aamir yet again, at the end of year gives a chance to reconsider him, to fall in love or under awe with him. The sheer work ethic with which I am told that he pulled off the makeover of time travel in the movie. Aamir is one of the finest, be it pk, 3 idiots, ghajni, Laggan...and list is on.

Dangal is spectacular. Dangal is masterpiece. Dangal is a movie you live inside with. Dangal is a movie you take out with you in ur lives. Dangal is a concoction of real life heroism and smart dialogues and brilliant performances.

Aamir as an actor makes you feel his life as he prepares his girls to the time he is tested by her disciple only. You run thru what his character goes thru and feel his emotions all thru. And he does it by putting right Haryana accent to gem of dialogues. He says once in the movie - Dangal ladne se pehle,  dar se ladna padta hai!

Geeta kumari played by 2 girls - younger and older version as a character was the executor in the script, her father being the master. Fantastic performance by both girls, but I really fell in love with the small girl who spoke so fantastic haryanvi and shown the dare in her eyes as she prepared to fight against men.

Babita as a character,  is the side role and done justice again by the other two girls. She displays that fine nuance of understanding her father when relationship of her father with geeta goes awry. Her smaller version also gives those funny punches to the movie which are required to tone down the intensity.

A sidey,  the cousin of the sisters plays a vital role of fun and an effective narrator of the story.

Music is awesome and I wonder how primal pulls such kinds at times. I liked gilahriyan and obviously dangal title track. Written by amita Bhattacharya, it's an amazing song..I liked the lyrics after a long time..may be since chak de india track, in that genre.

And, without giving any spoilers, at the end of it you gather a lot of things from the movie, - a desire and motivation to win against all odds, great lesson as a parent on what all Mahabir did for her daughters and how future of kids is dependent on the parents,  and above all the passion and dedication that the trio showcases on screen to achieve the end goal of getting and international gold.

It's a must must watch for anybody who wants to live life! And it's a truly story. So much inspiring life!!

Degrees of doing -> degrees of results!

Most of us have heard so many times in our lives - in books or lectures, workplace from your bosses, as a straight dictat that don't just try...make things happen!

I agree to the fact that yes, it is about degrees of action from degrees of drive and passion generating that kind of varied result. And you must have heard yourself also giving this Gyan statement to your subordinates or colleagues as well.

Just, step back and imagine yourself to be the person who is stating varying degrees of doing to his or her superior on being assigned a task -

I will try.
That's a very weak desire coming out to do the task. You seems incapable, uninterested and not at all looking like a finisher with a self force. Thus as a boss, i might feel that surety of task happening is a question. Thus, I should keep pushing you/cross checking again and again, else the task is in jeopardy!

Result - Micromanagement leading to further arguments and checks. Whether the task happens to satisfaction or not, environment to happen is already killed. And you, look like a pessimist, uninterested and incapable person.

I will do my best.
That's better. You appear a positive person confident of his skills and willing to give your best to the task. As a superior, I feel confident, less concerned and believer in the fact that task would happen and with a good quality levels. I will check less frequently and let you do your thing.

Result - Periodic review of work in a better environment leading to quality output. Both parties feel confident and professional and positive.

I will do it whatever it takes.
You already have the feeling! This is making things happen. Going beyond your roles or task territories with a single minded focus, getting all people/resources to kick in at the right times for the grand output.

Result - You appear super charged, champion of the task with safe hands and shoulders to treat it as you baby. As a superior, I feel wow! I would review things to add value to the output, stretching the creativity and making everything gigantically great! This is where 2 humans really use their power to make things as masterpieces, giving a meaning to human lives!

Let's watch our words, and work for any task personal or professional with the highest degree of action - whatever it takes and see how happy we would be! And results of what kind - you would feel it on the way!!

What u believe is what u become!

I came across this thought today...and i think have read it somewhere before also. To me seemed like a hyperbole of sorts...with impressive words sandwiched to create an awesome sentence.

However, I started thinking about it.

One-day long back in my life, I believed that I would want to be part of this exciting marketing and advertising world... Having no idea of first or third hand experience of it, being a son of an engineer turned businessman and having spent 18 odd years reading dainik bhaskars of the hinterland ( no exposure to business press).

But I think, the belief came from reading a few business magazines during CAT preparation. And I believed it..that I can.

Thoughts started zooming in on my mind..as to how exciting life would be around brands and consumer behaviour etc. Al rises and Jack trout rocked my engineering days with I reading more of marketing warfare,  positioning etc than integrated electronics!

And yes, thoughts became words..with me finding myself talking more about marketing with my engg friends than anything else.

And words became actions. Mini adverts of sorts were getting circulated by me in the class rather than focussing on telecom networks lecture. Though that was also transmitting a message in the class:-).

And, I think that belief developed a habit in me to read about this side of the world. Out of no where I was reading business press especially likes of business today with a focus on brand buzz. At infy, my focus was more on activities which lend me explore my passion and I realised I was part of the communications team making ads for hr events, participating in ad-mads and so on...which helped me ratify my belief....that the other world is calling me

And here I am today, working as a marketer for last 8 yrs. And I enjoy where I am vs a world of machines with ppl handling them to increase output, efficiency and creating newer inventions and more machines and programs. I love to think what to do with those machines to get happy consumers.

Believing is becoming. Indeed!
